Le Paquebot rises along the Boulevard Victor with a distinctive, white-clad profile that narrows to a sharp, stepped prow. Built in nineteen thirty-four by the architect Pierre Patout, the structure mimics the appearance of a trans-Atlantic liner. Patout was already known for his work designing the interiors of luxury ships, including the Normandie, and he brought that aesthetic to this narrow, difficult plot of land between the boulevard and the old Petite Ceinture railway tracks.
