The Place de la République is anchored by a bronze monument to Marianne, the personification of the French Republic. Standing twenty-five meters high, this figure holds an olive branch and rests her hand on a tablet inscribed with the rights of man. She is accompanied at the base by figures representing liberty, equality, and fraternity, along with a lion guarding a ballot box.
