Fontaine de Léda

The Fontaine de Léda is a wall fountain identified by a central bas-relief depicting the Greek myth of Leda and the swan. Commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in eighteen oh six, the fountain features a bronze swan with its beak serving as the water spout, flanked by pilasters decorated with intertwined dolphins. In its original form, a pediment above the sculpture displayed an eagle holding a laurel crown, representing the authority of the First Empire.
