Place Fréhel

Place Fréhel is a small, rectangular urban square tucked into the intersection of Rue de Belleville and Rue Julien-Lacroix. Its existence is an accident of city engineering; the space opened up unexpectedly when nearby buildings collapsed during the construction of the Metro line eleven tunnel. For decades, the gap remained an empty, nameless void, often used for parking motorbikes and scooters.
