Rotonde de la Villette

The Rotonde de la Villette stands out for its grand, circular form and neo-classical design, featuring rows of pillars that support a heavy triangular pediment. Designed by architect Claude-Nicolas Ledoux and completed between seventeen eighty-four and seventeen eighty-eight, the structure served as the largest toll barrier of the Wall of the Farmers-General. Parisians once despised this wall, as it was built solely to collect taxes on goods entering the city.
