The Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie is defined by its vast, metallic structure and the two large, fabric-covered domes that sit atop its roof. This building sits in the Parc de la Villette and serves as a major museum for science and technology. It was inaugurated in nineteen eighty-six by President François Mitterrand, opening on the same day the Giotto space probe encountered Halley’s Comet.
