The Cité de la Musique is a complex of concert halls, exhibition spaces, and a music museum located within the Parc de la Villette. Designed by architect Christian de Portzamparc, the structure opened in nineteen ninety-five as part of the Grands Projets initiated by President François Mitterrand. It occupies a site that once served as the slaughterhouse district of Paris, transforming a landscape of industrial history into an area dedicated to musical education and performance.
