Musée-Placard d'Erik Satie

The Musée-Placard d’Erik Satie was a miniature museum located at six Rue Cortot in the eighteenth arrondissement of Paris. It occupied a three-by-three meter utility room where the composer Erik Satie lived between eighteen ninety-six and eighteen ninety-eight. Satie called the space his placard, or cupboard, because it was so small his camp bed blocked the door from opening completely. During the freezing winter months, he often slept fully clothed, piling his remaining garments on top of himself to stay warm.
