Grande halle de la Villette

The Grande Halle de la Villette stands out as a sprawling rectangular structure of iron and glass, stretching two hundred forty-five meters in length. It is the only historic building left from the massive nineteenth-century slaughterhouse complex that once occupied this site. During the eighteen sixties, the hall served as a central cattle market, with butchers famously nicknaming the surrounding district the City of Blood.
