Orgues de Flandre

The Orgues de Flandre are defined by four jagged, soaring towers that reach heights of up to one hundred twenty-three meters above the nineteenth arrondissement. Designed by the German architect Martin Schulz van Treeck and built between nineteen seventy-three and nineteen eighty, these concrete residential structures are arranged in an irregular, stepped geometry. The buildings earned their name, which translates to Organs of Flanders, because their varied heights and clustered shafts evoke the pipes of a cathedral organ.
