Shakespeare and Company

Shakespeare and Company is an English-language bookstore recognizable by the worn, colorful book bins stacked on the sidewalk and a facade that sits in a crooked building on the banks of the Seine, directly opposite the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Inside, the shop is a labyrinth of cramped, wood-paneled rooms and narrow staircases where new and secondhand volumes are shelved floor-to-ceiling.
