Stravinsky Fountain

Sixteen whimsical sculptures, some mechanical and black and others bright and colorful, move and spray water within a shallow rectangular basin. This is the Stravinsky Fountain, a kinetic work of art inaugurated in nineteen eighty-three to honor the Russian composer Igor Stravinsky. It sits directly beside the Centre Pompidou, built over the underground facilities of the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique, an organization dedicated to modern music research.
