Bourse de commerce (Paris)

The Bourse de Commerce is a large circular building distinguished by a monumental glass dome and an ancient, fluted stone column standing just outside its exterior wall. Originally constructed in the eighteenth century as a grain exchange to serve the city’s bakers and merchants, the structure underwent a significant redesign in eighteen eighty-nine when it became the Paris commodities exchange. That nineteenth-century renovation added the expansive metal and glass rotunda that still crowns the building today.
