Hôtel de Toulouse

The Hôtel de Toulouse is marked by a massive, historic stone facade that anchors the corner of rue de La Vrillière. Originally built between sixteen thirty-five and sixteen forty by the architect François Mansart for a royal secretary of state, the mansion later became the home of Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, the Count of Toulouse and an illegitimate son of King Louis the Fourteenth. The building transitioned from a grand aristocratic residence into the headquarters of the Banque de France under an imperial decree signed by Napoleon the First in eighteen oh eight.
