Musée d'Anatomie Delmas-Orfila-Rouvière

The building at forty-five rue des Saints-Pères once housed the Musée d'Anatomie Delmas-Orfila-Rouvière, a collection that occupied the eighth floor of the Faculty of Medicine. It began in seventeen ninety-four with anatomical specimens gathered by Honoré Fragonard, but grew significantly under dean Mathieu Orfila in the nineteenth century. Inspired by the Hunterian Museum in London, Orfila sought to create an unrivaled medical archive for Paris. By eighteen eighty-one, the catalog contained forty-five hundred items, ranging from skeletons to elaborate wax models.
