Prison de l'Abbaye

The Prison de l'Abbaye once stood as a massive, square building defined by its three stories and a small turret perched at each of its four corners. Constructed between sixteen thirty-one and sixteen thirty-five, the structure served as a monastic jail before transitioning into a military prison during the eighteenth century. It occupied a site near the junction of the current Boulevard Saint-Germain and the Rue de l'Échaudé until its demolition in eighteen fifty-four.
