The Passage du Caire is the oldest and longest covered passage in Paris. You can identify the entrance at number two Place du Caire by the three stone effigies of the Egyptian goddess Hathor, recognizable by their distinct cow ears, which gaze down from the facade. Opened in seventeen ninety-eight, this narrow, glass-roofed corridor was built on the site of a former convent that was nationalized during the French Revolution.
