Chinesischer Turm

The Chinesischer Turm is a twenty-five-meter-tall wooden tower built in the shape of a pagoda, rising five levels high with tiered, shingled roofs. Constructed between seventeen eighty-nine and seventeen ninety under the direction of architect Johann Baptist Lechner, it was designed as an observation deck for the newly opened Englischer Garten. While the tower was originally meant to offer panoramic views, the surrounding trees have since grown to surpass its height, leaving the structure to serve primarily as a landmark.
