Mariahilfplatz is defined by the neo-Gothic Mariahilfkirche, which stands in the center of the square with a roof covered in colorful tiles. The church sits on a site where a cross washed up in fourteen sixty-three, leading to the construction of an early chapel. In eighteen thirty-one, the foundation stone for the current structure was laid, and it has since become the primary landmark of the Au district.
