The Drechsler Palace stands at twenty-five Andrássy Avenue as a French Renaissance-style building featuring ornate stone carvings, towers at its corners, and pointed balconies. Completed in eighteen eighty-six by architects Ödön Lechner and Gyula Pártos, it was originally commissioned as an investment property for the Hungarian State Railways Pension Institute. The palace occupies a trapezoidal block directly opposite the State Opera House, which influenced its design to ensure it complemented the nearby theater without overshadowing its architecture.
