Sapporo Kaitakushi beer brewery

The Sapporo Kaitakushi Beer Brewery is marked by its distinctive red brick architecture, which stands as a remnant of the early industrial era in Hokkaido. This site, which opened in eighteen seventy-six, holds the distinction of being the first government-managed beer brewery in Japan. It was established by the Hokkaido Kaitakushi, an administrative agency tasked with developing the northern frontier, which identified the region's cool climate as ideal for German-style brewing.
