Puerto Vallarta Malecon

The Malecon is a two thousand five hundred foot long oceanfront promenade that stretches along the Pacific coast of downtown Puerto Vallarta. You can identify this pedestrian walkway by the series of bronze and surrealist sculptures installed at intervals along its length, including the famous bronze figure of a boy riding a giant seahorse known as El Caballito. Originally built in the nineteen thirties as a simple breakwater to protect the coast, the boardwalk was severely damaged by Hurricane Kenna in two thousand two.
