The Boy on the Seahorse

The bronze statue of a young boy riding a seahorse, officially titled El Niño sobre el Caballito de Mar, stands as a defining image of the city’s seaside promenade. Cast in bronze, the figure features a child wearing a traditional Mexican hat, perched upon a hippocampus with an outstretched arm. This sculpture was the first work of art permanently installed along the Malecón in nineteen seventy-six.
