Esmeralda Slide Park is defined by two parallel forty-foot metal slides that run directly alongside a set of steep concrete stairs on a hillside in Bernal Heights. These slides, which long held the name Winfield Street Slides, were built in the late nineteen seventies as a result of a neighborhood volunteer initiative supported by city agencies.
