450 Sutter Street

The twenty-six-story skyscraper at four hundred fifty Sutter Street is defined by its vertical, faceted facade of terracotta panels decorated with Mayan-inspired patterns. Completed in nineteen twenty-nine, it was the second-tallest building in San Francisco at the time and was famously conceived by a dentist, Francis Edward Morgan Junior, to serve as a specialized center for the city’s medical and dental professionals.
