Hotaling Building

The Hotaling Building at four hundred fifty-one Jackson Street is a brick structure from eighteen sixty-six, identifiable by its Italianate facade featuring cast-iron elements and shutters. Built for the merchant Anson Parsons Hotaling, it once served as the largest whiskey repository on the West Coast. The building gained lasting local fame during the nineteen oh six earthquake and fire, when it stood as one of the few structures in the area to survive the catastrophe.
