Feusier Octagon House

The Feusier Octagon House on Green Street is defined by its unusual eight-sided footprint and a third-story mansard roof topped with an octagonal cupola. Built around eighteen fifty-seven, it is one of only two remaining octagon houses in San Francisco. Its design follows a nineteenth-century trend championed by phrenologist Orson Squire Fowler, who argued that an eight-sided home provided superior access to sunlight and ventilation for every room.
