American Conservatory Theater

The Toni Rembe Theater, home to the American Conservatory Theater, stands out for its elegant Beaux Arts architecture at four hundred fifteen Geary Street. Designed by Walter D. Bliss and William B. Faville and built in nineteen ten, the building has operated as a central venue for drama in San Francisco for decades. It opened its doors as the Columbia Theater before the American Conservatory Theater—a nonprofit company founded by William Ball in nineteen sixty-five—made it their primary stage in nineteen sixty-seven.
