Uptown Tenderloin Historic District

The Uptown Tenderloin Historic District is a dense, thirty-three-block grid defined by its uniform architecture of brick and reinforced concrete buildings, most standing between three and seven stories tall. This district took shape rapidly between nineteen oh six and the nineteen thirties, rising from the ashes of the great earthquake and fire to house the retail and office workers who powered the city’s economy.
