The Columbus Tower, also known as the Sentinel Building, is a distinctive eight-story, flatiron-style structure defined by its copper-green facade and narrow, wedge-shaped footprint. It sits at the intersection of Columbus Avenue, Kearny Street, and Jackson Street, where the boundaries of North Beach, Chinatown, and the Financial District converge. Architects Salfield and Kohlberg designed the steel-framed building, which was completed in nineteen oh seven. Construction was delayed by the nineteen oh six earthquake, which left the skeletal frame standing while the rest of the city suffered.
