Tenderloin Museum

The Tenderloin Museum occupies a corner of the Cadillac Hotel, a building distinguished by its role as a single-room occupancy residence. Inside, the space features dark, ornate wall coverings that evoke the atmosphere of a Prohibition-era speakeasy. This institution opened in two thousand fifteen to document the history of the surrounding thirty-one blocks, an area shaped by its post-nineteen oh six earthquake reconstruction and a long reputation for vice, music, and activism.
