The James R. Browning United States Court of Appeals Building is a massive, steel-framed structure clad in white Sierra granite, instantly recognizable by its rows of arched windows and the grand, Italian Renaissance-inspired style that earned it the nickname "a post office that’s a palace" upon its completion in nineteen oh five. Originally constructed to house both the federal courts and the main post office, the building serves as the headquarters for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
