Yerba Buena Cove is a stretch of downtown San Francisco that occupies a space where, until the mid-nineteenth century, ships once dropped anchor in open water. This area was originally a natural, curved harbor tucked between Clarks Point to the north and Rincon Point to the south. Its shoreline once reached inland as far as present-day Montgomery Street.
