Soto Zen Mission of San Francisco - Sokoji

The Soto Zen Mission of San Francisco, known as Sokoji, is a Japanese-style temple located on Laguna Street in San Francisco. Its exterior features traditional architectural details that distinguish the building from the surrounding urban landscape of the Japantown neighborhood. The temple was founded in nineteen thirty-four by Reverend Hosen Isobe, who originally established the congregation within a former Jewish synagogue on Bush Street.
