Raymond Kimbell Playground is defined by its wide, synthetic-turf athletic fields and an enclosed children’s area situated at the corner of Geary Boulevard and Steiner Street. The space takes its name from Raymond Kimbell, who served as a Recreation and Park Commissioner and later as the department’s general manager. His efforts were instrumental in securing the land for this park during the mid-twentieth century.
