Buddhist Church Of San Francisco

The Buddhist Church of San Francisco features a dome-shaped stupa on its roof, which houses holy relics of the Buddha. Founded in eighteen ninety-eight, this is the oldest Jodo Shinshu, or Pure Land, Buddhist temple in the continental United States. It began as a small study group for Japanese immigrants and moved to this location on Pine Street in nineteen thirteen.
