At the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and Pine Street sits a gas station that bears a name from a different century. While the canopy and pumps function exactly like any modern Chevron, the prominent signage identifies it simply as Standard Oil. This is the only location in California that still carries the branding of the petroleum giant founded by John D. Rockefeller and Henry Flagler in eighteen seventy.
