Arthur Conan Doyle Monument

The building at twenty-one fifty-one Sacramento Street is a private residence, recognizable by the two stone lions guarding its entrance and the stained-glass panels featuring family crests. It is often incorrectly identified as a monument to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the author of the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. A brass plaque on the front of the structure asserts that the author once occupied this home, built in eighteen eighty-one.
