The Mitchell Brothers O'Farrell Theatre occupies a building at eight hundred ninety-five O'Farrell Street that dates to nineteen twenty-four and originally served as a Pontiac automobile dealership. You can recognize the structure by its prominent, wide facade and the history of its long, lighted marquee that once drew crowds into what journalist Hunter S. Thompson dubbed the Carnegie Hall of public sex in America.
