The Metreon is a four-story, three-hundred-fifty-thousand-square-foot complex characterized by its gleaming industrial facade of metal panels and textured glass. Located at the corner of Fourth and Mission Streets, the building sits directly atop the underground Moscone Center convention center. It opened on June sixteen, nineteen ninety-nine, as an ambitious eighty-five million dollar urban entertainment destination developed by Sony to showcase its electronics, gaming, and media brands through interactive theaters, themed playgrounds, and original arcade experiences.
