Sonny Lawson Park occupies the block at Twenty-third and Welton streets, characterized by a fenced-in baseball field and a smaller, separate quarter-acre dog park added in twenty sixteen. It was dedicated on August ninth, nineteen seventy-two, making it the first park in Denver named for an African American.
