Denver Union Station

Denver Union Station is defined by the central Beaux-Arts structure completed in nineteen fourteen, which features a massive metal awning wrapping its entrance and a facade adorned with carved motifs of the columbine, Colorado’s state flower. This building replaced an earlier depot that opened in eighteen eighty-one and was later damaged by a devastating fire. While the eighteen eighty-one version once held the title of the tallest building in the West, the current station emerged as a grand hub for the city’s burgeoning rail traffic.
