Confluence Park

park garden

Confluence Park sits exactly where Cherry Creek merges into the South Platte River. You can identify this spot by the rush of water at the whitewater course, a feature that draws kayakers and paddleboarders into the heart of the city. This area marks the site where, in eighteen fifty-eight, a party of prospectors led by William Greeneberry Russell began searching for gold. While they did not find a fortune right here, their discovery of gold nearby at Little Dry Creek triggered the Colorado Gold Rush, an event that directly led to the founding of Denver.
