The Oxford Hotel features a distinct exterior of red brick and sandstone, punctuated by square brick caps along the roofline that mimic the appearance of a castle. Completed in eighteen ninety-one, the hotel was designed by Colorado architect Frank Edbrooke to serve travelers arriving at the neighboring Union Station. It was commissioned by a group of brewing tycoons who envisioned a first-class destination, and the building originally contained its own power plant, pharmacy, barbershop, and library to provide a self-contained experience for guests.
