Dearborn Station

Dearborn Station is the oldest surviving railroad terminal in Chicago, easily recognized by its massive twelve-story clock tower and walls of red pressed brick and pink granite. Designed by architect Cyrus Eidlitz and completed in eighteen eighty-five, the station served as a primary hub for several major rail lines, including the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe. It acted as a bustling gateway to the city for decades, with seventeen thousand passengers passing through daily by the turn of the century.
