South Street Diner

The South Street Diner is a blue and silver railroad-style car that has occupied the corner of South and Kneeland streets since nineteen forty-seven. Originally built by the Worcester Lunch Car Company, it first opened as the Blue Diner, a name likely chosen because it served the local blue-collar workers of the Leather District. Its interior remains filled with chrome, white tile, and blue diamond patterns, preserving the appearance it had long before the factories around it gave way to the city’s evolving landscape.
