The Golden Nugget Las Vegas is recognizable by its prominent signage and bullnose design, which helped it become one of the most photographed buildings on Fremont Street. Opened on August 30, 1946, by former Los Angeles police officer Guy McAfee, it was intended to evoke the atmosphere of gold rush era San Francisco. At the time of its debut, it was billed as the world's largest casino, featuring mahogany bars, imported marble, and crystal chandeliers.
