Bathtub Gin and Company is marked by a single, small tin plate mounted on a door in an alleyway between First and Second Avenue. Housed in the former boiler room of the Humphrey Building, this bar occupies a basement space that was originally intended to be a rentable apartment. Jessica Gifford, who managed the building, and Marcus Johnson transformed the utility room into a cocktail bar in two thousand and nine.
