Thirty-two Lonsdale Street sits within the area once known as Little Lon, a district that became notorious in the nineteenth century as a center for Melbourne’s vice and slum life. While the neighborhood has been heavily redeveloped, the site itself is recorded in history as the location of an extravagantly furnished bordello operated by Caroline Hodgson, better known as Madame Brussels.
