museum

The Immigration Museum occupies the Old Customs House, a grand nineteenth-century building on Flinders Street defined by its monumental ceremonial staircase and iconic Ionic colonnades. When it opened in nineteen ninety-eight, the institution moved into a space that once served as the primary port of entry for goods and people arriving in Victoria. The architecture reflects this history, featuring a central Long Room where customs officers once processed trade and travelers.
